Forrest graduated from the YouthBuild program in 2004. Wise beyond his 25 years, he freely admits that “as a younger man” he made some mistakes and bad choices and learned a few hard lessons before he was ready to get on a road that led to a hopeful future. The YouthBuild Program offers low-income young adults, ages 17-24, a nine-month workweek program. During the YouthBuild Program, trainees have an opportunity to increase their basic employment skills by…
  • Obtaining their GED and acquiring computer skills in our computer lab by taking classes taught by instructors from the College of Lake County (CLC)
     
  • Learning marketable construction skills by building affordable homes in Lake County
     
  • Earning an Home Builder’s Institute certification
     
  • Building a more hopeful future through counseling, life skills and job readiness training
     
  • Securing employment or entering college
