Community Service Projects

Part of the YouthBuild mission is to encourage our trainees to see the value in community service. Students participate in a variety of community service events throughout the year.  They have cleaned up parks, painted community centers, read to local children, assisted with community events, and much more.

A YouthBuild Trainee helps hang wreaths in Waukegan during the 2009 holiday season.

Through the National Corporation of Community Service, many of our students are co-enrolled as an AmeriCorps Member.    Through this program the students will complete 450 hours of community service.  Upon completion of these hours the students will earn an AmeriCorps Education Award totally $1250.00. Over 40 students have received this award in the last 2 years.

YBLC was presented an award of appreciation from NICASA for the hard work the trainees put in to help build a playground.
