YBLC brings hope in the form of education, training and support.
- All program trainees earn a stipend.
- Graduates receive job placement assistance.
- All programs are five days a week.
- All trainees must qualify as low-income
residents of Lake County.
YouthBuild Program: A nine-month program for 16-24
year olds. Trainees have the opportunity to earn their GED and
gain computer skills while learning construction skills by
building affordable housing for low-income families. This
program provides leadership, counseling services and job
readiness training and placement.
Program Start Date: August 11, 2008 Advanced Carpentry
Program: A four-month program for 16-24 year olds. Trainees
enroll in college carpentry courses at the College of Lake
County. They learn hands-on by building affordable homes for
low-income families. Applicants must have a high school diploma
or GED.
Program Start Date: Temporarily discontinued due to lack of funding.
Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Program:
Nine-month program is for 18-21 year olds. Trainees attend the
College of Lake County and earn three Residential Heading and
Air Conditioning Certificates, 30 college credits and an EPA
License. A high school diploma or GED is required.
